DGen (Amiga)

DGen is an emulator of the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive consoles. The Genesis/MegaDrive is Sega's best selling console, initially released in 1988 still have strong following and fans around the world. Some game concepts were first introduced on the Sega Mega Drive and then developed on other platforms. The console directly competed with all the other 8 and 16 bit platforms of the era, and outsold many of them. Having 68000 processor at 7.6 MHz it was direct competitor of the Amiga as well and had many Amiga games easily converted to it, with some versions even better than on the Amiga, despite having less memory and smaller palette:

Many games were Sega consoles exclusive and not available for other platforms, like Sonic The Hedgehog, Streets of Rage both of them having best conversions on the Sega MegaDrive. The emulator supports Joystick via AmigaInput, have very good sound and graphics output and recognizes both widespread MegaDrive ROM formats - .smd and .bin. The 68000 CPU engine is very compatible and the games play without any problems. Popular game titles for the Sega Mega Drive consoles include Altered Beast, Captain America and The Avengers, Davis Cup World Tour Tennis, Dick Tracy, ECCO The Dolphin, FIFA Soccer 96, Shove It! The Warehouse Game, Superman, Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle) 1,2 and 3, Splatterhouse 2 and 3, Super Monaco Grand Prix, Two Crude Dudes, Zero Wing. The Cat At Crossroad game for Sega Mega Drive, written by me, is available in the Sega section, which was easily converted from the Amiga. The game can be used for testing if you have no other ROMs for the Mega Drive.
Being the most popular Sega Console, the Mega Drive (Genesis) have very good titles and its emulation is a very big plus for all the hardcore gamers. Now available on the Amiga means the Amigans are not left out to enjoy all the classic games released during the years and now with Joystick on very accurate emulator. DGen is must have for every classic machines lover and retro gaming enthusiast. Together with GenesisPlus the emulation of Sega Mega drive on the Amiga is now strong covered, making all these classic games avaialbe for play by the Amiga users around the world.
